Creative Christmas Ideas – Simple and Easy

Here Come the Holidays!

Christmas is fast approaching. Notice that Christmas Carols are now being played not just louder but more frequently. Everyone must now be gearing up and getting ready to greet each other ‘Happy holidays’!

But that’s just one of those things we look forward to this season. As this is the merriest time of the year, it should also be filled with wondrous moments of togetherness with our loved ones – family members, friends, relatives and all who are dear to us.

There’s no better way for Dad and Mom to bond with their kids than to spend hours doing creative projects for the holiday celebrations.

Forget the traditional decor such as plastic or vinyl Christmas Trees, store-bought garlands, and trinkets. You can dress up your living room with decorative stuff that each member has personally made. You could even turn this into an annual project that each one of you would look forward to recreating year after year.

Stress-Free Holiday Preparations

Don’t stress out preparing for the holidays. Make it a point that everyone, from Grandma and Grandpa to the youngest tot, has fun participating in the holiday preparations. Allow your imagination to create amazing crafts that would put a cheery atmosphere in your homes.

Simple Christmas Decor

Here is a nice and easy tip on how to make a simple decorative lantern: all you need are pieces of paper (colored or plain will do), string, glue and some glitters or spray paint.

  1. Fold the pieces of paper, about 10-12 folds alternately to make a fan-like or accordion style pattern.
  2. Glue the fans together until you make a wheel.
  3. Spray paint with any vibrant color you want. Do you love lavender and violet? Go ahead and use your favorite color for a more elegant and chic effect.
  4. Cut two small circles the size of a quarter and paste them in the middle of both sides of your wheel.
  5. Add glitters anywhere in the wheel or if you prefer, on just the small circles.
  6. Put a string on top and voila! You have created a Christmas lantern.

You can hang your lanterns in groups of different sizes to decorate a corner of your living room. You can also hang them in a row outside along with strings of Christmas lights.
